Buck Brumlow Claims First Collegiate Win, Breaks into Top 25 PGA TOUR University Ranking

Buck Brumlow, a standout golfer from the University of Georgia, celebrated a career milestone by capturing his first collegiate victory at the Ford Collegiate. In a strong performance that included outplaying his own teammate, Grayson Wood, Brumlow earned his sixth top-10 finish of the season. His impressive showing propelled him to No. 19 in the latest PGA TOUR University Ranking, marking his debut within the top 25. Notably, he is the only representative from Georgia’s Class of 2025 to make the list.

The tournament featured fierce competition, including top-ranked teams such as No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Texas, and No. 7 LSU. Ultimately, Texas emerged victorious in the team standings, thanks to a strong final round at 3-under par. The team was led by standout performances from Daniel Bennett, who tied for third place, and Tommy Morrison, ranked No. 8 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), who finished tied for seventh.

LSU’s Algot Kleen also made headlines with a third-place tie, marking his second top-three result of the spring season. As a result, Kleen rose to No. 8 in the PGA TOUR University Ranking, continuing his steady ascent.

Other notable movements in the rankings include Texas A&M’s Phichaksn Maichon, who moved up to No. 12 following consistent performances throughout the season. UNLV’s Caden Fioroni climbed three spots to No. 15 after securing a solo runner-up finish at the 78th Western Intercollegiate. Meanwhile, Mississippi’s Kye Meeks made a significant leap into the top 25, landing at No. 24 after placing third at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.

Despite the reshuffling among lower ranks, the top five players remain unchanged. North Carolina’s David Ford continues to hold the No. 1 position, followed by Auburn’s Brendan Valdes, Florida’s Ian Gilligan, Arizona State’s Jose Luis Ballester, and Louisville’s Sebastian Moss.

As the season progresses, all eyes turn toward the upcoming conference championships, which kick off this week. These tournaments will play a crucial role in shaping the final standings as players compete not only for individual glory but also for coveted spots in the PGA TOUR University program — a pathway to professional golf opportunities.

The PGA TOUR University Ranking evaluates players based on performance in collegiate events, amateur tournaments, and select professional starts. Players within the top 25 are offered various professional exemptions and developmental tour access, making these rankings a pivotal part of their transition into the pro ranks.

With his breakthrough win and significant leap in the rankings, Buck Brumlow has firmly established himself as one of college golf’s rising stars. As the postseason unfolds, he’ll aim to build on this momentum and continue climbing toward the top tier of collegiate golf.
