Grant Horvat Wins Creator Classic Playoff at TPC Sawgrass
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass brought together ten golf content creators for an exciting competition on the back nine of the legendary Stadium Course, culminating in a thrilling playoff at the iconic par-3 17th hole. Grant Horvat emerged victorious, sinking a 15-foot birdie putt to defeat Chris Solomon and George Bryan IV in the sudden-death showdown.
A High-Stakes Battle on the Island Green
The event featured an eight-hole stroke play contest, covering holes 10 through 17. Horvat and Bryan both finished regulation play at 1-over, while Solomon posted a 2-over score. The top three players then advanced to a playoff at the famed island green.
Horvat’s nerves were evident at the start of the day, but he soon found his rhythm and delivered when it mattered most.
“At the beginning of the day, that was the most nervous I’ve ever been, and I think today I kind of proved something to myself, that I can handle the nerves,” Horvat said. “In the past, I’ve gotten too tight and tentative, but today I was swinging freely. It was awesome.”
His approach shot on 17—a 131-yard pitching wedge—was precise, setting up his winning birdie putt. “That last putt was not easy, and I was so happy to see it go in,” Horvat added. “I’d rather win with a birdie than settle for par.”
Struggles and Highlights from the Field
While Horvat thrived under pressure, others faced challenges. Trent Ryan of Barstool Sports endured a nightmare at the 17th, recording an octuple-bogey 11. Despite his struggles, Ryan embraced the experience, acknowledging the enthusiastic crowd that cheered him on.
“All day, we kept saying, ‘It’s an 8-iron,’” Ryan recounted. “We tried three times, and it just wasn’t the club, so we switched to a 7-iron. Usually, you aren’t happy with an 11, but with the crowd cheering, it was fun.”
Ryan also recorded a quintuple-bogey 10 on the par-5 16th, finishing with a 29-over 61 across the eight holes.
Another standout moment came from Fat Perez of "Bob Does Sports," who drained a stunning 50-foot birdie putt on the 17th. His putt evoked memories of Tiger Woods’ famous “Better Than Most” putt at the 2001 PLAYERS Championship. Perez celebrated in style, raising his fist and shimmying for the crowd.
