Justin Thomas wants to make Presidents Cup ‘just as bad’ as Ryder Cup

Justin Thomas is determined to make the 2024 Presidents Cup team, expressing the same level of desire as he did for last year's Ryder Cup. Entering the BMW Championship at No. 16 in the U.S. Team standings, Thomas knows he cannot automatically qualify for the Presidents Cup even with a win. However, his performance at Castle Pines Golf Club could influence U.S. Team Captain Jim Furyk's decision when making his six captain’s picks after the TOUR Championship.

Thomas's form has improved in 2024, and he is ranked No. 22 in the FedExCup standings, a significant improvement from his No. 71 position last year. Despite this progress, Thomas is aware that his spot on the U.S. Team is not guaranteed, especially with many strong contenders in the mix. The group vying for captain's picks includes notable names like Tony Finau, Russell Henley, and Max Homa, among others.

Thomas is focused on breaking his two-year victory drought, aiming to win tournaments and compete strongly in the FedExCup. He believes that if he achieves these goals, it will naturally bolster his chances of being selected for the Presidents Cup team. His mindset this year is healthier and more focused on winning, rather than the anxiety-driven approach he had last year for the Ryder Cup.
