Scottie Scheffler tops the market at TPC River Highlands

The PGA TOUR shifts its focus from the West Coast to TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, for another exciting week of golf. With a total purse of $20 million and $3.6 million going to the winner, this designated event will showcase 156 players competing on the parkland course.

Scottie Scheffler emerges as the favorite with odds of +650, showcasing his consistency and exceptional performance in major championships. Notably, he secured a solo third place finish at LACC, marking his third consecutive top-10 finish in a major. Impressively, Scheffler has achieved four consecutive top-three finishes in his last four starts. While his putting has been scrutinized following some setbacks at Colonial and Muirfield Village, he showed improvement in his last event by gaining strokes on the greens. This makes him a well-deserved favorite in the betting market once again.

Jon Rahm (+900) and Rory McIlroy (+900), both prominent figures in the top tier of the field, remain consistent contenders. McIlroy's impressive solo second-place finish at the U.S. Open, where he narrowly missed forcing a playoff, highlights his current form. Rahm, on the other hand, struggled with his driver at the U.S. Open but showed signs of improvement on the final day with a solid round of 65. However, neither player has enjoyed notable success at TPC River Highlands in their previous visits.

Patrick Cantlay (+1200) maintains his strong record in major championships, extending his streak of top-14 finishes to five. While his performance at TPC River Highlands has not been as impressive historically, Xander Schauffele (+1400) has excelled during this time of the year, as demonstrated by his recent win at the Memorial Tournament and his solid showing at the U.S. Open.

Viktor Hovland (+1600) returns to Connecticut after a year's absence and looks to leverage his exceptional tee-to-green skills on this strategic course. Collin Morikawa (+2500) and Matt Fitzpatrick (+2500) aim to build on their recent successes, while Tony Finau (+2800) seeks his first top-10 finish at TPC River Highlands after a series of underwhelming performances.

Wyndham Clark (+4000), fresh off his victory at LACC, aims to continue his winning streak against a competitive field. Notable players like Rickie Fowler, Tommy Fleetwood, Hideki Matsuyama, and Max Homa, among others, also add excitement to the event with their presence.

As the tournament unfolds, the top 65 players and ties will proceed to the final two rounds. With eight of the top 10 and 23 of the top 30 players in the Official World Golf Ranking participating, the competition promises to be fierce.
