Sebastian Moss Clinches Calusa Cup Title and Climbs to No. 5 in PGA TOUR University Ranking
Sebastian Moss, a standout golfer from the University of Louisville, delivered a clutch performance at the Calusa Cup, capturing the individual title and making a significant leap in the PGA TOUR University Ranking. His bogey-free 3-under-par 69 in the final round, sealed with a birdie on the 18th hole, gave him a one-shot victory and marked his third win of the 2024-25 season.
The tournament, held at the prestigious Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida, showcased Moss’s composure and consistency. With this win, he moved from 11th to 5th in the PGA TOUR University Ranking — a critical advancement, as the top 10 players at season’s end will earn Korn Ferry Tour status. Those ranked 11th through 25th will receive membership to PGA TOUR Americas.
This latest victory is not only Moss’s third of the current season but also the fifth of his collegiate career, highlighting his impressive journey with the Louisville Cardinals. His rise in the rankings now places him among an elite group of college golfers vying for professional status.
Also making headlines this week was North Carolina’s David Ford, who continued his dominant season by winning the Tar Heel Intercollegiate — his fifth individual title of the year. This win further solidified his No. 1 position in the PGA TOUR University Ranking. Ford is now tied for the most career wins in North Carolina’s history with seven and holds the single-season record with five victories.
Rounding out the top five in the current ranking are Auburn’s Brendan Valdes at No. 2, Florida’s Ian Gilligan at No. 3, and Arizona State’s Jose Luis Ballester at No. 4, just ahead of Moss. These players represent the top echelon of collegiate golf, consistently delivering high-level performances across major events.
As the season progresses, the focus now shifts to the upcoming conference championships. Both Ford and Moss will be among the key contenders at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, taking place at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky, from April 24 to 28. Their performances there could further influence the rankings and set the tone for the rest of the season.
