Sebastian Moss wins Fighting Irish Classic, moves inside top 10 of PGA TOUR University Ranking
Sebastian Moss made a significant move in the PGA TOUR University Ranking, jumping eight spots to No. 8 following his victory at the Fighting Irish Classic. Moss, a standout player from Louisville, secured the win by shooting 5-under over the final two rounds, edging out Matteo Cristoni from Little Rock by one stroke. This victory marked Moss’s second individual win of the season, adding to a third-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. His rise into the top 10 is a result of his strong performances throughout the fall.
The victory also contributed to changes in the top 10 of the PGA TOUR University Ranking. Ian Gilligan of Florida dropped to No. 11, while Moss took over the No. 8 position. Gilligan and Caden Fioroni (UNLV, No. 25) will compete in this week's Shriners Children’s Open on the PGA TOUR, with Fioroni making his debut and Gilligan playing in his second PGA TOUR event.
Other notable movements include Tiger Christensen (Arizona) and Jake Peacock (South Florida) climbing two spots each to Nos. 15 and 21, respectively, after strong performances at the Windon Memorial Classic.
The ranking remains competitive at the top, with Brendan Valdes (Auburn), David Ford (North Carolina), and Josele Ballester (Arizona State) holding the top three spots. The battle for No. 1 is close, with just 42 points separating Valdes from No. 5 Omar Morales (UCLA), and these top players are expected to compete in next week’s Williams Cup in North Carolina.
The top finisher in the rankings at the end of the fall season will earn an exemption into the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, making the final weeks crucial for players hoping to climb the ranks.
